STEAM in the Preschool Classroom
We offer tours for your classes and preschools. We can do a quick overview of the layout of the library and our rules or in-depth explanation of our computer catalog. We can also do book talks, read a story, or add other components upon request. Please contact the children’s librarian to schedule.
We can do a special storytime for your class, the librarians’ schedule permitting. We can do it as part of a tour or as a separate program. We love to have you visit us, but we can also bring the library to you. With prior arrangement with the children’s librarian, we can also do a special storytime or presentation in your classroom. Please contact the children’s librarian to schedule.
We also offer TOPICAL CLASS VISITS with a story/discussion and activity component for any number of grades. Some examples include Matisse, countries of the world, Folk Art, New England authors.
Group Book Clubs
If you have a book club or a class group that needs the same book, we can request multiple titles from other libraries for you! Just let us know the title and how many!
Kids can Create a Book!
The Library will put kids’ books in our collection! If your class makes books or wants to make them, just bring them to us and we’ll catalog them and put them on the shelf to check out!
We offer a number of online resources that can be used by your students all for FREE! Visit our “Databases” section on the website.
There are e-books and audiobooks (Tumblebooks and Overdrive), language learning (Mango Languages), reference (Kids Infobits!, Encyclopedia Britannica and Pebble Go!), and downloadable music (Freegal)
Note: Some require library card access
Teacher Book Bags
Teachers and homeschoolers in Amesbury can request a book bag (if you live in Amesbury but teach elsewhere or teach in Amesbury but live elsewhere, you still qualify!). It can be on any topic you need and includes up to 25 books. Bags are checked out for a six week period and are non-renewable.
The children’s staff is happy to put together the bag for you, but needs at least a week’s notice to complete a bag. Please email, call or stop by with your request.
You can email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (978-388-8148 x618) to order a bag. Please order a week before it is needed. If you need it more quickly, please call us directly and we will try to accommodate you.
