Teen Advisory Board

Everyone in 7th – 12th grade is welcome to take part and get your voice heard!

Next Meeting:  Tuesday, January 30th at 6:30pm. ALL WELCOME!

What is a TAB?

A teen advisory board (TAB) is a group of teen volunteers who help the library by taking an active leadership role in implementing programs and promoting and advocating for youth services in Amesbury. It’s a way to get youth voices heard and to let the library and community know what you and your peers need and want. Input from any 7 – 12 graders in Amesbury is welcome.

What does it involve?

The TAB can be involved in any and all of the following activities:

  • Planning programs and activities
  • Helping run programs of interest for teens or for kids
  • Advising librarians on our collection and room additions
  • Advocating for and advertising teen activities and space for the library
  • Creating content for social media
  • Coming up with more ways to be involved

Meetings can be held virtually or in-person depending on the needs of the group and the youth services librarian. The TAB  meets once per month, but additional meetings for planning or programming might be necessary. All hours will be counted as community service hours.

Why should I join?

Joining the TAB gives you a chance to have real input in what the library offers for teens. It also allows you to meet other teens, develop planning and leadership skills, and acquire volunteer experience that looks great on job, college, and scholarship applications.

Email youth services to get more information or to find out when we meet next.

Information will be posted on Instagram and the library calendar. You are welcome to drop in at the meeting!
